Brown Joins Ohio's My Brother's Keeper Chapters on Virtual Call to Announce New Partnership and Programming

Today, U.S. Sen. Brown hosted a virtual call with My Brother's Keeper (MBK) chapters from around Ohio, where he announced a new partnership with the Cincinnati Reds, the Cincinnati Museum Center, and MBK Ohio to provide new virtual programming for students this academic year. My Brother's Keeper was started by President Obama as a national initiative to address the opportunity gaps facing boys and young men of color, and to ensure all young people reach their full potential. Brown helped launch the statewide coalition of MBK in Columbus in 2018.

"MBK provides opportunities for Ohio's future scientists, engineers, journalists, teachers and entrepreneurs. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus pandemic, many of these students don't get the resources and the attention they need and deserve. This new programming developed by MBK Ohio will connect students with adults from all different career paths virtually and safely," said Brown.

"The Reds are excited to participate in the Ohio My Brother's Keeper program which builds platforms for future generations to thrive. We welcome the opportunity to support our community and expand opportunities on the pathway to success. The 11 MBK Ohio Chapters currently operating each have their own unique focus and provide weekly instruction and programming for students. Senator Brown's office, in conjunction with Ohio State University, is collaborating to supplement this programming and provide enriching opportunities for students to gain exposure to various career opportunities as well as empowerment and advocacy tools.

Last year, Brown joined Columbus community leaders as he gave the keynote address at the second annual MBK Ohio Statewide Conference in Columbus. My Brother's Keeper was started by President Obama as a national initiative to address the opportunity gaps facing boys and young men of color, and to ensure all young people reach their full potential.
