Date: Nov. 2, 2020
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Mark DeSaulnier (CA-11) announced the introduction of legislation to strengthen and preserve the Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB). The Bureau of International Labor Affairs Authorization Act (H.R. 8706) would make necessary legislative changes to officially establish ILAB within the Department of Labor and authorize it to carry out its important work.

"For over 70 years, the Bureau of International Labor Affairs has promoted a fair global playing field for workers and businesses in the United States and around the world by enforcing trade commitments, strengthening international labor standards, and fighting against child labor, forced labor, and human trafficking," said Congressman DeSaulnier. "This bill would allow the Bureau to continue these vital operations, which is essential to the wellbeing of international and domestic workers."

Congressman DeSaulnier is a member of the House Committee on Education and Labor.
