Dr. Bucshon Joins Fellow Congressional Doctors for Press Conference; Calls on Congressional Leadership to Stop Pay Cuts to Doctors During a Pandemic

Press Release

Date: Dec. 16, 2020
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Larry Bucshon, M.D. (IN-08) joined several other doctors in Congress and other members for a press conference where he discussed the scheduled Medicare payment cuts to providers scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2021.

"Doctors are some of the heroes keeping our families safe during these uncertain times. They are the among the heroes that are beginning to vaccinate our country's most vulnerable so that we can mover ever closer to defeating this virus. All doctors should be met with a helping hand from Congress at this time. That is what this country does for its heroes. Instead, our heroes performing surgeries are preparing for more than 10% pay cuts in some specialties starting January 1st unless Congress acts.

"That is why I'm calling on the Leadership in Congress to include my legislation, the Holding Providers Harmless from Medicare Cuts during COVID-19 Act (H.R. 8702), in either the COVID-19 relief bill or the year-end spending bill. The legislation that I introduced with Representative Bera would hold doctors scheduled to receive a pay cut harmless while ensuring doctors scheduled to receive increase pay would keep their increases with no delay.
