"President Biden's executive action to reverse the discriminatory and hateful transgender military ban is an important step toward ensuring that all who are qualified can serve in the Armed Forces of the United States. This action also reaffirms that our country thrives in diversity and inclusivity.

"The Trump ban was a cruel and harmful decision that had no purpose other than to exclude and humiliate the transgender community. I will continue to work with the Biden-Harris Administration to make clear that hate and prejudice has no place in our policies and government.

"America is safer and stronger domestically and around the globe when it is inclusive. Reversing this ban is only the start to the work we have ahead to undo the damage caused by the Trump Administration."
