After the bipartisan confirmation of General Lloyd Austin to be the nation's new Secretary of Defense, Congressman Steven Horsford released the following statement:

"I'd like to offer my sincerest congratulations to Secretary of Defense General Lloyd Austin for his historic confirmation. Secretary Austin will be a strong voice for our country's Armed Forces, including the 40 percent of our troops that are people of color," said Congressman Steven Horsford. "Secretary Austin's four decades of military experience have shown him to be a leader on the international stage and a powerful advocate for our servicemembers. Before his confirmation, he agreed to work with me to strengthen housing, mental health care, child care, and educational opportunities for servicemembers and their families in Nevada's Fourth District. I look forward to collaborating with Secretary Austin and the rest of the Biden-Harris administration to protect our national security, support our troops, and restore public faith in our democratic institutions."
