Rep. Axne Appointed to House Agriculture Committee for 117th Congress

Press Release

Yesterday, Rep. Cindy Axne (IA-03) was reappointed to serve on the House Agriculture Committee for the 117th Congress.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to once again serve as a voice for Iowa's farmers and agricultural interests on the House Agriculture Committee," said Rep. Axne. "Ensuring that Iowa's family farmers, producers, and rural communities thrive not only supports Iowa's economy -- but it helps us feed our nation and the entire world. I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle, Chairman David Scott, Secretary-designate Vilsack, and President Joe Biden to repair the damage done by devastating trade war and natural disasters and promote prosperity in the years and harvests to come."

In her tenure on the House Agriculture Committee last Congress, Rep. Axne used her role as the sole Iowan on the committee to raise Iowan's voices, pass critical legislation, and fight back against policies that would harm Iowa's agriculture community.

She welcomed Iowans to testify before the Committee on the effects that tariffs and the trade war were having on their bottom line.

Rep. Axne got legislation signed into law to protect Iowa's producers from deadly threats to their supply.

Rep. Axne consistently used her voice on the Committee and with the House Biofuels Caucus to fight back against damaging and illegal Small Refinery Exemptions and other undermining of the Renewable Fuel Standard.

She also repeatedly stood up to her own party to advocate for Iowa's farmers.
