U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) -- incoming chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs -- released the following statement after the Senate confirmed Pete Buttigieg to be Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT)

"Mr. Buttigieg understands the dignity of work and I am confident that as Secretary of USDOT he will work to make our transportation systems more equitable and sustainable," said Brown. "As Chairman of the Banking & Housing Committee, I look forward to working with Secretary Buttigieg on a major infrastructure legislation and transit reauthorization, and I believe we can work to address major transportation needs in Ohio, like replacing the Brent Spence Bridge."
