Location: Washington, DC

Following the release of the Army Corps of Engineers FY 2021 Work Plan, Congressman Sam Graves (MO-06), Ranking Member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, applauded the inclusion of funding to improve navigation on the Upper Mississippi and Lower Missouri Rivers.

"The Corps' FY 2021 Work Plan includes a lot of wins for folks that live and work along our rivers in North Missouri," said Graves. "I'm particularly proud of our successful efforts to fund more dredging on the Upper Mississippi River and start a feasibility study for navigation improvements on the Missouri River. Both of these efforts will help improve commerce and navigation on our rivers and help move our economy forward."

The Army Corps of Engineers FY 2021 Work Plan includes $96,457,000 to fund dredging on the Upper Mississippi River between the Missouri River and Minneapolis, MN. This is in addition to more than $55 million dedicated to improving the navigation channel in FY 2020. The Workplan also includes $500,000 to start a feasibility study for navigation improvements on the Lower Missouri River. This is the start of a new process to improve navigation along the river that has been severely impacted by the Flood of 2019.
