Rep. Peter Meijer (MI-03) today announced that Dwelling Place in Grand Rapids was awarded a grant of $345,000 to aid in community development and help combat housing challenges in West Michigan. This grant was awarded through the NeighborWorks America organization and will be used to offset operational costs and increase affordable housing options for communities in the greater Grand Rapids area.

"Dwelling Place plays an integral role in supporting the development of affordable housing in our West Michigan communities. This past year has presented untold challenges for our community, and I am extremely grateful for everything Dwelling Place has done to help our neighbors weather this trying moment," said Rep. Meijer. "This grant provides Dwelling Place with the necessary resources and means to continue assisting those suffering housing insecurity in West Michigan, and I look forward to seeing the profound impact this will enable for years to come."

"The annual grant support through NeighborWorks provides Dwelling Place with operating support to offer a wide array of affordable housing and neighborhood revitalization programs. NeighborWorks' support has also allowed us to take advantage of peer-to-peer consultations with other NeighborWorks affiliates and offer high quality training and leadership development resources for our board members, staff and neighborhood residents," said Dennis Sturtevant, Chief Executive Officer of Dwelling Place Grand Rapids.
