Menendez, Booker Announce $3.5M to Boost Maternal and Child Health Care Across NJ

U.S. Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker today announced 3,535,539 in federal funding from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to support maternal and child health services throughout the state.

"This funding is critical to improving maternal and child health care services for low-income families throughout New Jersey, including prenatal care, immunization and special health needs," said Sen. Menendez, a senior member of the Senate Finance Committee that sets national health policy. "Ensuring women and children have access to quality, affordable health care -- especially in the middle of a pandemic -- must be a priority and I'll always fight for robust resources so that New Jersey can continue offering top health care services."

"We must remain committed to protecting quality and affordable health care for our most vulnerable New Jerseyans," said Sen. Booker. "This federal funding will help improve care for moms and kids across our state as we continue to battle this public health crisis."

The New Jersey Department of Health's Maternal and Child Health Services program works to improve access to health services and reduce disparities in health outcomes for the mothers, expecting mothers, children and teens in New Jersey.
