Bergman Supports Paycheck Protection Program Extension

Press Release

Date: March 17, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

Rep. Bergman joined his House colleagues in passing H.R. 1799 -- the PPP Extension Act of 2021. If signed into law, this legislation would extend the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) application deadline from March 31st until May 31st and gives the Small Business Administration until June 30th to process applications.

Rep. Bergman has supported several rounds of the PPP, which now stands at a total program level of $813.7 billion since it was established by the CARES Act in March 2020.

Rep. Bergman stated, "The Paycheck Protection Program has been a lifeline for millions of small businesses forced to close their doors or scale back due to government-mandated shutdowns. While there's still program dollars available and many small businesses who need it, I hope this bill is signed into law soon so we can keep the ball rolling on a program proven to save First District businesses and jobs."
