Issues: Labor Unions

Today, Congressman Jerry Carl (R-Mobile) issued the following statement regarding Democrats' refusal to consider his amendment to H.R. 842 -- The PRO Union Bosses Act.

Today, Democrats rammed through H.R. 842 -- the PRO Union Bosses Act after refusing to consider my amendment to protect the flexibility enjoyed by independent contractors and workers in the emerging gig economy.

I voted against H.R. 842 because it harms employers and American workers while lining the pockets of union bosses. Federal labor laws should empower workers with the choices and opportunities they need to succeed, but H.R. 842 holds workers back and violates their rights by eliminating Right-to-Work laws in 27 states, denying individuals the right to work without being union members, and forcing Alabamians to pay union dues against their wishes. This legislation is a bad deal for American workers and American businesses.
