Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05), Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus, issued the following statement today after President Joe Biden unveiled the American Jobs Plan, a new proposal to invest in America's infrastructure and rebuild our economy:
"I applaud President Biden's leadership to rebuild our roads, bridges and water systems, as well as invest in left behind communities. By investing in our country's infrastructure and workers, we can grow our economy, create good-paying jobs, and ensure that the U.S. remains competitive against our competitors, including China.
"I am pleased to see the President's proposal include a robust plan to invest in American manufacturing, including the expansion of electric vehicles. I have been working closely with the White House to put more electric vehicles on the road, which will support good-paying, American jobs while also reducing carbon emissions to combat the climate crisis. I strongly support the President's proposal to make major invests to remove lead pipes and ensure clean drinking water. There are many lessons from the Flint water crisis, including that we must get more serious about rebuilding our outdated infrastructure.
"As a member of the Ways and Means Committee, I look forward to working with the president to pass this bold investment in our future."
