Sasse Statement on Biden's ATF Nominee

Statement

Date: April 8, 2021

U.S. Senator Ben Sasse, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, issued the following statement after President Biden's Rose Garden announcement today that he would nominate David Chipman to lead the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.

"President Biden's ATF nominee, David Chipman, has a long record of embracing far-left gun controls. He wants to ban some of the most popular rifles for home defense and he's scoffed at the idea that law-abiding Americans want to protect their families. Chipman is a gun control zealot and the Senate should reject his nomination. Instead of making life more difficult for law-abiding Americans by undermining our Second Amendment rights, we ought to bring the hammer down on violent criminals."
