Congressman Darrell Issa (CA-50) announced today he has joined the Congressional Caucus on Education Innovation and Opportunity, also known as the School Choice Caucus.

"Every student deserves access to high-quality education that fits their unique needs -- and every parent deserves the greatest say in where their child attends school. As a member of the Congressional School Choice Caucus, I will work with my colleagues to advance new ideas and craft thoughtful reforms to enhance all available options for parents and students all across the country," Issa said.

This bicameral Caucus was first established in 2014 to share and promote school choice policies, best practices, research, and proposed legislation. The group, chaired by Rep. John Moolenaar (MI-4) and Senator Tim Scott (SC) shares success stories, policy updates, emerging research, and conversations regarding the expansion of education opportunities for all families.

Issa is a cosponsor of H. Res. 52 in recognition of National School Choice Week and supports the Student Empowerment Act, H.R. 605, to expand tax-free 529 savings accounts to cover everyday K-12 education expenses.

During a recent district work period, the Congressman visited Joan MacQueen Middle School in the Alpine School District where he met with educators, parents, students and administrators, took a facility and classroom tour, and discussed the school's success in returning students to the classroom as the nation emerges from the COVID crisis.
