Matsui Applauds House Passage of Priorities in Government Funding Package

Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-CA), a senior member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, applauded House passage of H.R. 4502, a package of seven government funding bills. The package includes Matsui-backed projects and priorities that will benefit the Sacramento region.

The funding that passed the House as part of H.R. 4502 includes appropriations for: Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, Agriculture, Rural Development, Energy and Water Development, Financial Services and General Government, Interior, Environment, Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development. The House also passed H.R. 4373 on State and Foreign Operations, and H.R. 4346 on Legislative Branch appropriations.

"The House has passed a government funding package that looks towards the future and makes critical investments to support our nation's recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, invest in our health care, combat climate change, and meet some of Sacramento's most pressing needs," said Congresswoman Matsui. "As we emerge from one of the worst public health crises in history, we need to think big and bold -- and this package of bills includes the funding necessary to help us Build Back Better."

The legislation includes Community Project Funding secured by Congresswoman Matsui:

$2,200,000 for City of Sacramento's Vision Zero School Safety
$2,000,000 for City of Sacramento's Combined Sewer System Improvement Project
$2,000,000 for California Mobility Center's Mobility and Advanced Manufacturing Career Pathways Program
$1,800,000 for City of West Sacramento's Southport Levee Trail
$1,700,000 for UC Davis Health's Digital Health Equity Program
$1,500,000 for City of Sacramento's 24th Street In-Line Combined Sewer System Storage Pipe Project
$1,225,000 for Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency's Mirasol Village Early Childhood Education Center
$575,000 for Sacramento State University's Power Engineering Lab
$250,000 for Sacramento State University's Cybersecurity Education Security Operations Center

HHS/SAMSHA Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics: $375 million, $125 million over FY21 enacted

DOE, Nuclear Waste Disposal: Provides $27.5 million equal to FY21, including $20 million for interim storage activities.
