Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-CA), a senior member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, applauded House passage of H.R. 4502, a package of seven government funding bills. The package includes Matsui-backed projects and priorities that will benefit the Sacramento region.

The funding that passed the House as part of H.R. 4502 includes appropriations for: Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, Agriculture, Rural Development, Energy and Water Development, Financial Services and General Government, Interior, Environment, Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development. The House also passed H.R. 4373 on State and Foreign Operations, and H.R. 4346 on Legislative Branch appropriations.

"The House has passed a government funding package that looks towards the future and makes critical investments to support our nation's recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, invest in our health care, combat climate change, and meet some of Sacramento's most pressing needs," said Congresswoman Matsui. "As we emerge from one of the worst public health crises in history, we need to think big and bold -- and this package of bills includes the funding necessary to help us Build Back Better."

"I am proud to have included over $13.25 million in funding for projects throughout the Sacramento region," Matsui continued. "This legislation makes key investments in exciting new projects that will make our streets safer, improve early childhood education, expand vital flood protections, and strengthen our economy. This bill brings us one step closer to securing significant federal funding for our community -- making a difference in our everyday lives and providing resources for our region to continue to innovate and thrive. I look forward to helping Sacramentans take full advantage of everything this legislation will deliver."
