A Constant State of Crisis

Today, House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) held a press conference where he called out Congressional Democrats and President Biden for their out-of-touch, reckless $5 trillion spending package and their feckless leadership at the border. "American families are paying historically high prices for everyday goods and these families -- primarily the working class -- will continue to bear the burden of rising costs for possibly the next several years," stated McCarthy. "Instead of addressing the concerns hurting our economy's stability, [Congressional Democrats] are moving ahead with pushing a massive $5 trillion tax and spending plan that will keep inflation high, raise taxes on the middle class, and put small and local businesses out of business -- all while handing tax breaks to the rich."

"In the past eight months, we have heard many compare the Biden presidency to the Jimmy Carter days.

"But with crisis after crisis continuing to unfold under Biden's watch, I now realize that comparison is actually an insult to Jimmy Carter.

"We aren't even a year in and President Biden has put our country in a constant state of crisis.

"We cannot, and will not, forget President Biden abandoning Americans through his disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan. To this day, there are Americans stranded behind enemy lines.

"His reckless exit ended up claiming the lives of 13 of our service members, innocent civilians -- including children, while he abandoned our own citizens in a Taliban stronghold and left behind billions of dollars' worth of U.S. military equipment and weaponry.

"American families are paying historically high prices for everyday goods and these families -- primarily the working class -- will continue to bear the burden of rising costs for possibly the next several years.

"And as our small and local businesses look to regain their footing from the pandemic, they are faced with a government-caused labor shortage forcing service disruptions.

"And this past weekend, we saw the starkest inflection point in President Biden and Vice President Harris' ongoing border crisis.

"Over ten thousand Haitian migrants crossed the border and set up camp under a bridge outside of Del Rio, Texas. Their journey is the direct result of the Biden/Harris agenda that wants to grant them amnesty and a lifetime of government benefits.

"While women and children faced 100-degree weather, shortage of food and water, the administration's response remained non-existent.

"Where is the border czar, Vice President Harris?

"Tomorrow it will mark six months since she was appointed to this role, and in that time, the situation at the border has only continued to deteriorate.

"Congressional Democrats on Capitol Hill have been just as disconnected from reality, and intent on making these problems much worse.

"Instead of addressing the concerns hurting our economy's stability, they are moving ahead with pushing a massive $5 trillion tax and spending plan that will keep inflation high, raise taxes on the middle class, and put small and local businesses out of business -- all while handing tax breaks to the rich.

"Democrats control every lever of the federal government, but are acting like powerless bystanders in the crises their own policies created.

"America cannot continue down this path. We need the Biden-Harris administration, and Congressional Democrats to fix the nation's problems as opposed to worsening the ones they have already created."
