Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) joined Congressman John B. Larson (CT-01) to introduce the Social Security 2100: A Sacred Trust.

This legislation will make long-overdue improvements to Social Security benefits. Most notably, the measure aims to end the 5-month waiting period to receive disability benefits, protect payments against inflation, and enhance benefits for widows and widowers in dual income households.

"Our nation depends on Social Security to provide retirement, disability, and survivor benefits. It is unconscionable that Social Security has not been updated in 50 years," said Congressman Gonzalez. "I am proud to be an original cosponsor of the Social Security 2100: A Sacred Trust. I look forward to the expansion and improvement of Social Security for all Americans through this bill."
