Rep. Danny K. Davis Welcomes Both Biden Cabinet Secretaries Becerra and Raimondo

Today, Rep. Danny K. Davis will attend events with Secretary of Commere Gina Raimondo and Secretary of Health and Human Services Becerra. In addition to a tour and focus meeting on manufacturing, Davis will highlight a recent grant announced by the Commerce Department for the Lawndale Community.

Davis said, "On behalf of the residents, businesses, and constituents of the 7th District of Illinois, I welcome both Secretaries to the district and thank the Biden Administration for highlighting access in both business development and execution and health care. The Biden Administration is moving forward with solutions to solve problems and create a better quality of life for all people."

U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo announced that the Department's Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $4.8 million CARES Act Recovery Assistance grant to Chicago, Illinois, to support industrial development in the city. This grant will help accelerate the economy and support business growth and development by providing trucks access to one of Chicago's major interstates via a railroad viaduct along Kostner Avenue, a critical access route to a potential new 24-acre industrial development in the North Lawndale neighborhood.

U. S. Rep. Danny K. Davis will meet with health care officials and experts regarding health care equity and its impact on the urban cities like Chicago. Davis will join Secretary Becerra at a local hospital for a discussion on equity, tour a COVID vaccine event, and then taken on a tour of the infectious disease unit.
