Congressman Peter DeFazio (OR-04) and Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) today held a press conference hailing passage of the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

"As Chair of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I'm thrilled to have led the effort to help pass needed investments to improve our rail systems, bridges, highways, transit, water, and broadband infrastructure," said Rep. DeFazio. "Oregon's infrastructure needs a major upgrade. The long-overdue investments provided by the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will boost the economy, strengthen our global competitiveness, and create millions of good-paying union jobs that can't be sent overseas."

"The historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill adds economic muscle throughout our state with long-needed federal investments generating new and solid jobs that strengthen the economy in all Oregon communities," said Wyden, chair of the Senate Finance Committee. "I'm gratified to have worked on this legislation providing significant resources that will help deal with destructive wildfires and severe drought, rebuild rural Oregon, bolster access to public transit and protect clean drinking water."

The American Society of Civil Engineers gave Oregon a C- grade on its infrastructure report card, the infrastructure bill will improve this grade.
