Hagedorn Statement on President Biden's Visit to Minnesota

Statement

Date: Nov. 30, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Jim Hagedorn (MN-01) released the following statement on President Joe Biden's visit to Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount, Minnesota where he discussed his agenda.

"In less than a year, President Biden and Democrats in Congress have destroyed all of the progress made under the Trump Administration to make our nation prosperous, vibrant, and free. They are undermining the United States with incompetence and Big Government socialism via the "Build Back Broke" agenda, a plan to double the size of the IRS, grant amnesty for illegal aliens, create a new Made in America Tax, and institute the Green New Deal.

"The great people of southern Minnesota have figured out the Democrats' game and are squarely rejecting their incompetent and socialist failures. They, like the rest of Americans, are pushing back against efforts to reorder America and are longing for corrective conservative change. They crave commonsense, time-tested solutions built on principles such as limited government, free enterprise capitalism, individual freedom and responsibility, the rule of law, and fiscal restraint.

"President Biden's trip is the latest attempt to sell his failed vision and push for workforce development. But he could have done this at a fraction of the cost by embracing a solution like my American Workforce Empowerment Act. My proposal will foster career opportunities for individuals by enabling the use of 529 education savings accounts for non-degree technical training, certificate programs, and the purchase of tools and equipment. Businesses are longing to fill a plethora of high-wage and skilled-workforce jobs for truck drivers, welders, mechanical technicians, plumbers, and electricians. With educational and vocational training choice these so called "dirty jobs" create economic opportunity, fill needed positions, and alleviate supply-chain inefficiencies. All without burdensome regulations or new welfare programs.

"It is time to get Americans working again, and it won't happen if we follow the path laid out by Biden and Democrats in Congress. They have delivered labor shortages, higher prices, and supply chain crises. Embracing solutions like my American Workforce Act will create good jobs, expand our nation's economy, and deliver a better tomorrow."
