Reps. Cicilline & Langevin Join with Rhode Island Organizations to Highlight Benefits of the Build Back Better Act for Rhode Island

Statement

Congressmen David N. Cicilline (RI-01) and James Langevin (RI-02) today joined with various Rhode Island organizations at the forefront of the care economy to highlight the benefits of the Build Back Better Act for Rhode Island and the need to pass this bill into law.

"We are at a critical crossroads as a state and country as we work to recover after the health and economic crises caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. To best provide for all Rhode Islanders, we're going to Build Back Better and create an economy that works for every American and all families -- that leaves no one behind," said Congressman Cicilline. "We"re going to finally lower prescription drug prices and ensure that everyone has access to affordable, quality healthcare and health insurance. We're going to put in place the largest expansion of public education in 100 years -- providing quality preschool to an additional 15,000 Rhode Island children through free pre-k for all 3- and 4-year-olds. And we're going to keep lowering taxes by extending the Biden Child Tax Credit for 173,000 eligible Rhode Island children and the American Rescue Plan's Earned Income Tax Credit for 47,600 hardworking Rhode Islanders."

"As our state grapples with the lingering economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the historic Build Back Better Act will reduce costs and cut taxes for Rhode Island families, create good-paying jobs, and make the bold investments necessary to tackle the climate crisis," said Congressman Langevin. "There is no doubt about it -- the COVID-19 pandemic was a tough time for us all. Thanks to President Biden's bold vision, this legislation is going to help all of our communities to Build Back Better."
