Congressman Vela Announces House Passage of FY 22 NDAA

Statement

Date: Dec. 9, 2021
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Defense

Today, Congressman Filemon Vela (TX-34), a member of the House Armed Services Committee, released the following statement in support of the bipartisan Fiscal Year 2022 NDAA.

"Earlier this week, the House passed the bipartisan Fiscal Year 2022 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). This is a critical step in completing this year's defense authorization," said Congressman Vela. "The NDAA, which Congress has passed without fail for 61 consecutive years, is vital to America's National Security. This legislation authorizes critical military construction investments for Naval Air Station Kingsville that I've advocated for and includes provisions from my Digital Defense Leadership Act that will keep our services on the edge of emerging technologies in artificial intelligence. Its passage reaffirms the House's commitment to our 2.2 million servicemembers, and I strongly urge the Senate and the President to pass and sign this bipartisan bill into law as soon as possible."
