Congresswoman Bourdeaux Condemns Georgian Republicans Continued Effort To Undermine Full Medicaid Expansion

Today, Congresswoman Carolyn Bourdeaux (GA-07) released the following statement condemning the latest attempt by Georgia Republicans to prevent Georgian families from being able to access Medicaid.

Rep. Bourdeaux said, "I'll say it again. Georgia's Medicaid work requirements are bad policy that would cost taxpayers more dollars while covering fewer people than full Medicaid expansion. The Governors' suit is another attempt to block quality health coverage for Georgians. It's time to cut the politics and expand Medicaid to the more than 600,000 Georgians who qualify. Now more than ever, we must ensure everyone has access to affordable, quality healthcare."

Congresswoman Bourdeaux has led the charge to expand Medicaid access in Georgia and introduced the Medicaid Saves Lives Act in the House. In January, Congresswoman Bourdeaux led the Georgia Congressional Delegation in sending a letter to the Administration urging them to block a request by Georgian Republicans to opt-out of using the Affordable Care Act website, Healthcare.gov.
