"I joined others in the Maryland Delegation yesterday for a meeting with the IRS Commissioner about backlogs at the IRS. The 2021 tax season ends in less than two weeks on April 18, and millions of returns remain unprocessed from the 2020 tax-filing season.
We thanked the IRS workers who continued to work hard despite staffing shortages in the midst of a pandemic. It is clear that there is a need for high-level action from IRS leadership to reduce the backlog and put the IRS on a better path to improved customer service."
