Pappas Helps Pass Bipartisan Legislation to Investigate Russian War Crimes in Russia

Today, Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01) helped pass bipartisan legislation requiring the Biden Administration to collect and report evidence of war crimes and other atrocities committed by Russia during its illegal invasion of Ukraine.

"The world is shocked by the killing of civilians and the devastation in Bucha, Mariupol, and across Ukraine," said Congressman Pappas. "There is no doubt war crimes have been committed and more are in progress, and these atrocities cannot go unanswered. While we take every step to support the people of Ukraine and its military, we must hold Putin accountable for his premeditated, murderous invasion of Ukraine."

Pappas recently worked to pass a government funding bill for FY 2022 that provides $13.6 billion in emergency funding for Ukraine.

Pappas has called on the Biden Administration to ramp up the transfer of further defense material to Ukraine, strengthen sanctions, and bolster humanitarian aid; including providing the S-300 surface-to-air missile system, an air defense system both Ukraine and some NATO allies have in their inventory.

Pappas has also repeatedly called for sanctions against Russia and for the Biden administration to use every tool available to hold Putin accountable.
