President Biden Signs Federal Funding Package, Including Key DelBene Priorities

Statement

Date: April 15, 2022

Today, President Biden signed the fiscal year 2022 appropriations package into law, which included a number of Congresswoman Suzan DelBene's (WA-01) priorities. DelBene helped secure:

$5 million for KidneyX, a program aimed at accelerating innovation, research, treatment, and preventative care for kidney disease.

A requirement that the Defense Department only buy American-made anchor chain, regardless of size. Closing this loophole will help protect Washington jobs and strengthen U.S. domestic manufacturing. The sole-remaining U.S. supplier of anchor chain is located in Blaine, WA.

$37 million for agricultural research that will support Washington farmers and make the U.S. agriculture industry more climate-resilient.

$82 million to expand access to computer science and STEM education for kindergarten to grade 12.

This law also includes $13.6 billion in military and humanitarian aid for Ukraine and nearly $7 million for 10 community projects across Washington's 1st Congressional District.
