Today, Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet will join President Joe Biden at the White House to commemorate reauthorization for the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). The Fiscal Year 2022 (FY22) omnibus funding bill reauthorized VAWA, which provides critical support for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

"Reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act is long-overdue," said Bennet. "I'm grateful that Congress came together to strengthen protections for survivors of domestic and sexual violence, and I look forward to joining the president today to mark this important occasion to keep Coloradans safe."

President Biden signed the bipartisan annual funding bill into law on Tuesday, which includes key measures to fund the government, invest in American families, lower costs and support Ukraine. In the bill, Bennet secured nearly $121 million for 64 Colorado projects, as well as funding for other Colorado priorities, such as the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), the Arkansas Valley Conduit, the Regional Transportation District (RTD), and the Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) program. Bennet also secured a number of provisions in the Intelligence Authorization Act to strengthen U.S. competitiveness in key emerging technologies.
