Today, Congressman Van Drew issued a statement condemning Governor Murphy's announcement that he will be deploying New Jersey's National Guard to Washington, D.C. ahead of a potential truck driver protest against authoritarian vaccine mandates.

"Governor Murphy's decision to deploy more than 100 troops to our nation's capital because truck drivers are choosing to exercise their First Amendment rights is outright hypocrisy," said Congressman Van Drew. "Where were Democrats in the summer of 2020 when ANTIFA burnt down cities and destroyed small businesses across America? Instead, there were calls for the defunding of police and refused to condemn these acts of violence. Now, with truck drivers vocalizing that they want to continue their livelihoods without being forced by the government's hand to receive a vaccine, Governor Murphy thinks it's appropriate to deploy New Jersey's National Guard."

"The minute there is a vocal challenge to this administration's authoritarian vaccine mandates, Democrats treat them as a threat," added Congressman Van Drew. "Governor Murphy should be focused on the citizens of New Jersey rather than wasting our national guard's time on truckers exercising their constitutional right to protest."
