Congresswoman Kathy Manning (NC-06), Vice Chair of the Middle East, North Africa, and Global Counter Terrorism Subcommittee, released the following statement celebrating the bipartisan vote in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to approve Dr. Deborah Lipstadt's nomination as Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism. The committee vote moves the nomination to the full Senate for consideration.

"After months of unnecessary partisan delay, I applaud the Senate Foreign Relations Committee for finally approving Dr. Deborah Lipstadt's nomination to serve as Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism," said Congresswoman Manning. "Antisemitism is rising around the globe, and there is no doubt that Dr. Lipstadt is extraordinarily well-qualified to call out and combat antisemitism. I urge my Senate colleagues to swiftly confirm Dr. Lipstadt with bipartisan support to show the world that we're committed to confronting bigotry and hatred toward Jews."

Congresswoman Manning has been a vocal advocate for confirming Dr. Lipstadt since her nomination by President Biden in August of 2021. In November, Congresswoman Manning led a letter to Chairman Menendez urging a swift hearing and confirmation of this nomination. The letter was signed by twenty-two Members of the U.S. House of Representatives.
