Gallagher: Biden's Shipbuilding "Plan" is Fundamentally Unserious

Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) today released the following statement on the Biden administration's attempt at a 30-year shipbuilding plan, which allows critical capabilities like VLS cells, undersea VLS cells, undersea torpedo capacity, and sortie generation to bottom out when the U.S. will need them most.

"The Biden administration's new shipbuilding plan is fundamentally unserious. In fact, it is not even a plan. Instead of a clear articulation of the Navy the nation needs, it presents three options--which means the service has no clear vision for where it wants to go nor how it will get there. Even worse, the plan bottoms out across a number of key areas such as surface and undersea VLS capacity at the worst possible moment in the late 2020s. This shipbuilding choose-your-own-adventure would make our Navy weakest at the exact moment it needs to be strongest. Congress must discard it and start over."
