Press Release

Date: April 26, 2022
Location: Patchogue, New York
Issues: Religion

Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1), co-chair of the House Republican Israel Caucus and one of two Jewish Republicans in Congress, just issued the following statement in response to a new report showing that New York State led the nation in antisemitic instances in 2021:

"This report is devastating and unacceptable, but, sadly, not surprising. Over the past year, we have seen repeated instances of New York Jews being targeted with violence because of their religion and antisemitic and anti-Israel ideologies peddled in our schools, on our streets, and in our government. While antisemitism is not unique to New York or the United States, this report and the antisemitic hate, aggression and discrimination we have witnessed in real time show that we have a real problem in our state that must be addressed immediately by leaders across the political spectrum and in all corners of our society. Antisemitism in all forms must be unequivocally identified, called out and crushed."
