LARSON VOTES TO ENSHRINE MARRIAGE EQUALITY INTO FEDERAL LAW

Press Release

Date: July 19, 2022
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) voted for the Respect for Marriage Act (H.R. 8404) to protect marriage equality under federal law. The Respect for Marriage Act will protect the right to marry for same-sex and interracial couples by repealing the discriminatory Defense of Marriage Act and providing additional legal protections for married couples.

"This radical Supreme Court has already torn bodily autonomy from women, and we cannot let them continue stripping freedoms from the American people," said Larson. "We must protect the right to marry whomever you choose, no matter your sex or race, and this bill would do just that. I urge the Senate to take up this legislation immediately because American freedoms are on the line."
