Watson Coleman: One Year Later, Democrats' Infrastructure Law is Delivering for New Jerseyans

Today, marking the first anniversary of Democrats' landmark Infrastructure Law, Rep. Watson Coleman highlighted the historic federal investments that are already creating good-paying jobs in New Jersey communities.

"One year ago today, President Biden and the Democratic Congress delivered a once-in-a-generation investment to create millions of good-paying jobs repairing, rebuilding and revitalizing our communities," said Rep. Watson Coleman. "Democrats' Infrastructure Law is already putting shovels in the ground and New Jerseyans to work in good-paying jobs -- fixing roads, upgrading public transit, slashing commute times, cleaning up pollution and more. As New Jerseyans mark the extraordinary progress of the last year, I remain committed to working with the Biden Administration to ensure these investments continue to reach our communities as quickly as possible."

Decades of underinvestment have left our communities in urgent need of repair and modernization.

The Infrastructure Law is already making progress on this backlog, delivering federal funds for a range of vital projects in New Jersey, including:

$3.2 billion to roads, bridges, roadway safety and other major projects.
$100 million to ensure high-speed internet coverage across the state.
$168 million to provide clean and safe water and improve water infrastructure.
$833 million to improve public transportation in 2022 alone with another $3.6 billion over the next 5 years.
$355.8 million has already been allocated for infrastructure resilience against climate change and extreme weather events.
$5.5 million to date has been allocated for cleaning up Superfund and brownfield sites.
