8th District Illinois Candidate David McSweeney Calls

Barrington Township: David McSweeney, candidate for Congress in Illinois' 8th Congressional District is calling on Congresswoman Melissa Bean to make herself more accessible to voters in the 8th District by allowing for more debates and question and answer sessions.

The Annenberg Foundation, www.factcheck.org cited the US Chamber of Commerce ad running on behalf of Melissa Bean misleading ads. "Chamber of Commerce Ad Misleads Some Business Owners. It praises Rep. Bean for a health insurance plan that doesn't exist," read the headline of a Press Release issued by the organization.

"I am calling on Melissa Bean to start respecting the voters in the 8th Congressional District by allowing for more debates and opportunities for the public and the media to ask questions. We all know about the $2 million war chest she has amassed and we are also waiting to see what kind of negative attacks the DCCC has in store with the $2.3 million in television they have reserved on behalf of Congresswoman Bean. Let's also allow for more give and take so that the voters and the media will be able to ask their questions," said McSweeney.

"The US Chamber of Commerce Ad's that are being run right now are a perfect example of the type of smokescreen emitting from the Bean Campaign. A non-partisan organization has called the ads being run on Bean's behalf misleading. Following her speech at a local business group's breakfast meeting featuring the announcement of the support of the US Chamber Melissa Bean apparently refused to answer questions," said McSweeney.

"My campaign is also releasing copies of e-mails from Melissa Bean's Congressional staffers soliciting endorsements and pointing at least one elected official to an unidentified website that contains the spliced together DCCC footage that offers abbreviated clips of my positions on the issues thus distorting my views. Debates and open discussions of the issues are the only way to avoid a blatant attempt by the Democrats to steal an election by manipulating and controlling the information," said McSweeney.

"Currently we have one forum finalized and few others in the process of finalization. Melissa Bean would be available for the entire month of October according to the Congressional calendar. I am calling on her to be consistent with the views she held less than two years ago when the theme of her campaign, and the attacks she leveled on her opponent, involved a lack of attention to the district and criticism of her opponents seeming unavailability," said McSweeney.

"Melissa Bean needs to stop hiding behind her taxpayer paid for staff, taxpayer funded mail and telephone calls, third party television and mail, and the rationing that her and her staff has placed on joint appearances. The voters of the 8th Congressional District deserve better representation than this. Those who voted for her expecting change have already seen how quickly she has forgotten the issues that got her elected in the first place," said McSweeney.
