DIAZ-BALART STATEMENT ON WATER RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT ACT BECOMING LAW

November 7th, 2007 - Washington, D.C. - - Congressman Lincoln Diaz-Balart (R-FL) issued the following statement today after the House of Representatives passed the Water Resources Development Act (H.R. 1495), legislation authorizing funding for water infrastructure projects across the country, including projects in Florida and the Everglades.

"Congress has not passed a WRDA bill in the last seven years, creating a serious backlog of infrastructure projects throughout the country," said Congressman Lincoln Diaz-Balart. "Critical projects in Florida, ranging from Everglades restoration to projects to protect Florida's beaches from erosion and storm damage, have been neglected because of our inability to authorize funding for seven years. It is very important that this legislation become law as soon as possible. It is my hope that the Senate will act quickly in taking up and passing this legislation," concluded Diaz-Balart.
