STATEMENT FROM GOVERNOR ELIOT SPITZER AND LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR PATERSON WISHING NEW YORK A HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR

Today, we join with the Chinese-American community throughout New York State in welcoming the arrival of the Chinese New Year. As the largest segment of the Asian-American community in New York, the Chinese-American community has been vital to the success of the Empire State and our entire nation. We celebrate this holiday not only for its rich historical and cultural roots, but also to recognize the Chinese-American community's great contributions to New York State. We extend to Chinese-Americans our warmest wishes for a healthy, joyous and prosperous new year.
