Issue Position: Health Care
International Elder Abuse Awareness Week Events
As someone who ran a small business, I have seen how health care costs continue to spiral out of control. American families are also struggling to afford the care and medications they need.
I am committed to working toward a system where every man, woman and child will have access to affordable, quality health care. We need to:
* focus on high-quality and cost-efficient services, examining how the Veterans Health Administration and Medicare systems control administrative costs,
* allow states the freedom to develop innovative models for universal coverage,
* allow people over 50 to buy into Medicare before they retire and cover children who are not covered by Medicaid or KidsCare (SCHIP),
* study state models for examples of cost-savings measures that have worked, such as reducing paperwork and allowing governments to purchase medications in bulk, and
* allow the importation of high-quality affordable prescription drugs from other countries.
