Pearce Amendment Holds Congress Accountable on Energy

Today, Congressman Steve Pearce offered an amendment that unanimously passed the House of Representatives. The amendment holds Congress accountable for locking up America's domestic resources. The amendment to the Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route National Historic Trail Designation Act (HR 1286) calls upon the Secretary of Interior to provide a full account of the resources that might be taken away from the American people by the bill.

"At a time when Americans are demanding we increase supply to lower gas prices, Congress continues to bring up legislation that does nothing to address our energy shortage," said Pearce. "The American people deserve to know exactly how much energy might be put off limits by the Majority's legislative agenda."

The Pearce Amendment was added unanimously and the full bill passed by a vote of 345 - 69.
