Dear Friends,

Greetings from the Annette Taddeo for Congress Campaign. Annette is running in Florida's 18th Congressional District, which includes Miami Beach, Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, downtown Miami, and the Florida Keys. I don't think we're exaggerating when we say it's the hottest district in the country, ready to go Red to Blue!

Annette Taddeo knows how important the Netroots are for the party and for the country. She appreciates all of the help and attention that you've already given to her campaign. But this is a two-way street, and that's why Annette is asking you to join her for her first Daily Kos liveblog tomorrow, at 3 PM EST (12 PM PST).

We hope that you'll join Annette tomorrow for a lively discussion about the issues, her Campaign for Congress, and so that she can hear your thoughts.

Check out Annette's website

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask Annette directly tomorrow, or ask away right now and we'll be sure that Annette sees them before she diaries.

Annette Taddeo is a self-made small business owner who founded her own language translation service company. Annette is a proud progressive. She is pro-choice, has a passionate commitment to protecting our environment, supports a responsible end to the war in Iraq, and will fight for equal rights for LGBT Americans.

Annette has what it takes to turn south Florida from Red to Blue. She is building a strong campaign and is dedicated to raising the funds needed to unseat her opponent, who has been in office since 1989.

About Annette Taddeo's Opponent

Republican Ileana Ros-Lehtinen has been in office for 18 years, and has voted with Bush and Cheney more than 89 percent of the time. She is out of touch with her district, which is becoming increasingly Democratic, and includes large progressive pockets like Key West and Monroe County.

For those of you who don't know much about Ros-Lehtinen, here are just a few lowlights of her record. She:

• Voted against expanding SCHIP, despite the fact that Florida, with nearly 700,000 uninsured children, has the second highest rate in the country.

• Supports George Bush's war in Iraq, and has marched with Bush and Cheney every step of the way.

• Voted against giving bonuses to soldiers coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan, but voted to give herself a $68,000 raise.

• Supports privatizing Social Security.

• Voted against stem cell research.

• Voted against assisting workers who lose their jobs due to globalization.

• Supports the family-travel embargo on Cuba, which only allows Cuban-Americans to see their families once every three years in Cuba... not even for a funeral, birth, or wedding.

• Voted against increased funding for student loans, and against lowering interest rates on those same loans over and over again.

Historic Change

These are only some of Ros-Lehtinen's votes against working families in America. Annette Taddeo entered this race to bring her experience as a small business owner, community leader, and advocate for children and families to Congress. South Florida deserves a break from the status quo; it deserves a Representative who will fight for a change on the issues, from health care for children to the environment to ending the war in Iraq.

Please be sure to stop on by tomorrow at 3 PM EST (12 PM PST) for Annette's first diary.

Please Help Us Get Our Message to the Voters

For more information about Annette, please check out her website and bio. And if you're so inclined, please contribute to our effort to unseat Ros-Lehtinen and bring historic change to South Florida.

We're off to a great start already. Annette announced her candidacy in late February and despite only five weeks of campaigning, outraised Ros-Lehtinen - who had a full three months.

But the incumbent has built up a big war chest over her years in Washington, and we need your help to get Annette's message to the voters in the very expensive South Florida media market. We're looking forward to the next seven months, and we hope you are too. Thank you, and Annette can't wait to hear from you tomorrow.
