McIntyre Supports Economic Recovery Act

After hearing from citizens and businesses all across Southeastern North Carolina, U.S. Congressman Mike McIntyre voted today for action over inaction, for jobs over unemployment, and for help to get our economy moving again!

This bill will help North Carolina, and our nation, in a myriad of ways by putting people back to work, cutting taxes, and by investing in highways, infrastructure, and education.

Congressman McIntyre stated, "Families are struggling. Inaction is not an option. This is about people having jobs, families having a roof over their head and food on the table. It's about families keeping their health benefits, getting educational opportunities, and training for jobs. Over the last several weeks, I have been traveling all over Southeastern North Carolina meeting with citizens, business leaders, and public officials, and they have all issued the clarion call that something needs to be done to help our local and national economy - now!

McIntyre continued, "This bill is not perfect, and I am very concerned about its cost as a strong advocate of fiscal responsibility. We must get out of this financial emergency and back on the road toward a balanced budget. I voted for it because we cannot afford to lose any more jobs or fall from a recession into a depression. We do need help, and we need it now."
