Hare Votes To Cancel Member Pay Raises For Fiscal Year 2011

Statement

Congressman Phil Hare (D-IL) today released the following statement after voting to cancel pay raises for Members of Congress in Fiscal Year 2011. If enacted, it would continue the current pay freeze already in place for 2010.

"Members of Congress should be required to make the same sacrifices as their constituents during tough economic times. With ordinary families cutting back, small businesses tightening their belts, and seniors foregoing their annual Social Security Cost of Living Adjustment, this is the least we can do."
