A NEW STRATEGY FOR JOB CREATION

Senator Barbara Cegavske understands that thousands of unemployed Nevadans can't wait for the tourism industry to rebound. Nevadans need jobs now, as well as a long-term strategy to diversify our economy. In the short-term, Barbara believes we must roll back job-killing tax hikes. Long-term, she believes we need to focus on creating the new jobs of the 21st Century.

Cegavske Supports Helping Small Businesses

Not only is it difficult for small businesses to create new jobs when state government continually increases the cost of doing business, it is almost impossible. Senator Cegavske's plan to roll back tax hikes on small businesses will provide local employers with more working capital to create new jobs. Additionally, Senator Cegavske believes we must lessen burdensome regulations and reduce needless time-consuming paperwork.

Cegavske Supports Enterprise Zones

Nevada is one of only six states in the nation that does not allow enterprise zones. An enterprise zone is a geographic area targeted for economic growth. Typically, state and local governments offer tax breaks and other incentives for businesses that locate in enterprise zones. Senator Cegavske believes Nevada's failure to pass enterprise zone legislation puts our state at a disadvantage when competing against other states for new businesses. Senator Cegavske is confident that if enterprise zone legislation is enacted, thousands of new jobs will be created as corporations from other states relocate to Nevada.

Cegavske Supports Creating Renewable Energy Corridors

With an abundance of natural resources in our state, Nevada should be at the forefront of creating renewable energy jobs. This will require strong and determined leadership. Senator Cegavske strongly believes in creating a public-private partnership that will bring tens of thousands of renewable energy jobs to Nevada. First, we must create renewable energy corridors, which are geographic areas designated for research and manufacturing facilities. Coupled with tax abatements and infrastructure improvements within the corridors, Nevada will attract enterprising solar, wind and geothermal companies to Nevada. Barbara believes we will create tens of thousands of renewable energy jobs if we have a strategic plan in place to bring the new jobs of the 21st Century to Nevada.
