Carson Statement On The Flooding In Pakistan

"The disaster affecting the people of Pakistan is beyond devastating. More than a thousand have been killed, and tens of millions more have been affected by the worst flooding the country has ever seen. As a leader in the world, the United States has acted to provide aid for the Pakistani people, and I hope this will encourage others in the international community to do so as well.

"Along with the human tragedy connected to the flooding there is also a real concern that the disaster will destabilize a country that is crucial to our success in fighting extremism. The more aid that can be provided, the more chance we have to prevent radicals from furthering their influence in Pakistan."
