Issue Position

Most of our current budget deficit is the result of the collapsed economy, so putting people to work is our first priority, but the long-term deficit is an important issue.

Making several sensible changes, like controlling the costs of health care, will go far towards doing that and there are other changes, like ending the Bush Tax Cuts for the wealthiest, that can offset the one-time deficit in Social Security better than reducing benefits.
