Reichert Statement on the Energy Tax Prevention Act

Date: April 7, 2011
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Energy

Congressman Dave Reichert (WA-08) today released this statement following a vote on H.R. 910, The Energy Tax Prevention Act:

"Today's vote establishes a clear recognition that it is the responsibility of Congress -- not regulatory agencies -- to make our laws," Reichert said. "Failure to act in this case would have sent a troubling message to the American people that Congress is willing to abdicate its Constitutional law-making responsibilities to federal regulatory agencies. Simply put, that's not how government should work. Both President Obama and members on both sides of the aisle agree that it is preferable and necessary for Congress to address climate change. I remain committed to working with my colleagues on common-sense solutions that will reduce carbon emissions and greenhouse gases and address the challenges created by climate change in order to ensure that we protect our environment for future generations."
