Statement

Date: May 2, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Rep. Richard Hanna (R,C,I-Barneveld) issued the following statement on the death of terrorist leader Osama Bin Laden:

"I commend President Obama for leading this successful operation that began under President George W. Bush nearly a decade ago," Hanna said. "Our American soldiers have remained relentless in this quest because America does not give up. This is testimony to the dedication of our brave men and women in uniform.

"On this historic moment, those who value freedom, those who believe in peace and those who support dignity for all mankind can find solace and some sense of closure in knowing Osama Bin Laden has been brought to justice.

"As New Yorkers, we remember those who died on September 11, 2001 at the hands of al Qaeda. They shall remain forever in our hearts and in our minds. And their survivors can find comfort in knowing that those who attack us on American soil will be defeated.

"No matter how long it takes, America has proven that it will pursue justice at all costs. The war against al Qaeda will go on. This is a great moment for our country, but it is also powerful warning to those who intend to carry on the fight against freedom. We will find you because liberty and justice always prevails."
