Congressman Jeff Landry (Republican, New Iberia) praised the House passage of his co-sponsored H.R. 3 -- the "No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act."

"Today, in a bi-partisan manner, the House followed the will of the American people and voted to establish a permanent, government-wide prohibition on taxpayer funding for abortions," said Landry. "I am proud that, when this bill becomes law, the government will once and for all not be able to use the hard-earned American taxpayers' money to pay for abortion coverage."

"This legislation passed today will save lives," exclaimed Landry. "Studies show that when tax-supported policies do not cover abortions, at least 25% of beneficiaries don't get abortions. I am thrilled we are saving the unborn, fostering policies that protect lives, and preventing any federal dollar from ever paying for an abortion."

"With polling routinely showing that over 60% of Americans oppose taxpayer funding for abortions, it is clear the President and the majority in the last Congress missed an opportunity to do the will of the people. Today, we corrected that and voted to save lives and save the taxpayers' money from being spent in a way that they do not want," concluded Landry. "I will continue to support legislation that includes life-affirming measures like H.R. 3."
