Focus on Job Creation

Date: June 3, 2011

Hi, I'm Congressman Jim Renacci. I want to take a minute to talk to you about the need for job creation in America and what I'm doing in Congress to help.

Last week, House Republicans launched a Plan for America's Job Creators. This blueprint builds on our Pledge to America and sets goals to spur private sector job growth.

During 2009 & 2010, Americans watched our unemployment rate skyrocket. The last Congress pursued an agenda defined by a massive expansion of government and heavy handed regulations. In stark contrast is the new Republican Majority. We understand that it is private business, not government, that can repair our broken economy. We've introduced a plan to let the private sector do just that.

The Republican plan calls for more domestic energy production. This will help alleviate pain at the gas pump. It calls for reduced regulation and lower taxes. This will help give businesses the certainty and predictability they need to begin hiring again. The plan also calls for passage of stalled free trade agreements. This will create new opportunities and keep American businesses competitive.

Our plan is a solid foundation upon which to rebuild our economy. But I am also looking for feedback from businesses in the 16th district. If you or your business has been impacted by over-regulation, I want to hear from you. Please visit my website and click the "Listening to America's Job Creators" link. I will then work with my colleagues in Congress to see what we can do to help you.

Finally, I am working in the district to match up job seekers with employers who are looking to hire. On June 27th at the Canton Civic Center, I will be holding a job fair. There are already more than 25 businesses registered for this free event. For more details, please visit my website. Thank you for allowing me to serve as your voice in Congress. I look forward to hearing from you.
