Press Release

Location: Flowood, MS

The campaign of Mississippi Treasurer Tate Reeves, Republican candidate for Lieutenant Governor, announced today that its grassroots organization has knocked on 25,822 doors statewide since Friday, July 29th. This number is in addition to the 50,000+ doors knocked over the course of the campaign before Friday.

"With large crowds for the Watch Dog Express bus tour and thousands of doors being knocked daily at this point, our campaign is focused on talking with as many voters as possible before the polls close on August 2nd," said Tate Reeves. "We are excited to announce that with the additional volunteer sign-ups and enthusiasm surrounding our campaign we have set a goal of knocking on an additional 20,000 doors on Monday and Tuesday before the polls close."

The Reeves campaign has held large fish fry events open to the voting public in Tippah, Simpson, Lauderdale, Lee, DeSoto, and Pearl River counties and a hog roast event in Lowndes County recently. The Watch Dog Express bus tour stopped in more than twenty cities across the state between Wednesday and Saturday last week. The fish fry in Lauderdale County drew more than 540 people, and the DeSoto event drew more than 1,000.

"We're thrilled with the crowds we've drawn at these events and the organizational tool they've become," said Reeves. "There's no better way to sign up scores of volunteers, distribute hundreds of yard signs and get our message out to voters." View photos from the bus tour on the campaign's website here.

Today we've released a video titled "Momentum" highlighting moments from our fish fry events around the state.

In the latest 48 Reports required by the Secretary of State's office, Tate Reeves has raised $94,350 from 40 contributors while Billy Hewes has raised $17,750 from 6 contributors.

"Our campaign is drawing huge crowds in all corners of the state and continues to break fundraising records," said Reeves Campaign Manager Justin Brasell. "These type of results do not happen by chance it's through the hard work of our staff but most importantly the hard work of Tate Reeves that we have the momentum going into the August 2nd primary."
